I mentioned this on my website. Maybe I should have said greed versus your bike collecting dust. That’s kind of what it boils down to. Interestingly, I’ve been in this business for over 40 years (closer to 50 if you count my teen years). One thing I’ve learned is that riders can see through BS pretty quickly. Yeah, you may pull the wool over their eyes once or twice, but they will catch on.
So, you want to keep your bike maintained. We all know what will happen if you don’t! Performance lags, fuel mileage goes to heck, and eventually, parts wear and give out. But dang! How much is it gonna cost to get this bike tuned? Oil changed? Running right? That’s the rub. Too many shops just push the limit of those services and what does it lead to? Worn-out brakes, engines getting sluggish, torn-up chains and sprockets. But does it have to?
No! No, it doesn’t. We all know what is being charged out there, including “we little techs in the back” who are simply sick to our stomachs about it, but are always at the mercy of the bankrolled (or daddy-supported) business owner. Most of us will stick around, making just over minimum wage, but what for? Why not bust out and just charge a fair price, make a fair wage, and enjoy the work the same way you should be enjoying your bike. I did, and I'm glad for it. This isn’t an ad. You know what your bike needs. Give me a call or hit me up on my site. Let’s get together and keep your bike under you, not in the corner. And no sales BS and wool pulling allowed.
